Style Guide

What to wear for your photoshoot

"What should we wear?" That's the most commonquestion when prepping for a photoshoot. I’m here to help you with that! Here are some tips to guide your outfit choices:

Consider the Location!

Where we shoot matters! Outfits should blend and vibe with the setting. For beach sessions, think of flowing linen dresses in earthy tones for a luxe feel. Maxi flowy dresses add that breezy elegance and beautiful movement. Boys opt for linen shirts or plain tees and shorts from the same colour palette.

Colour Palette

Neutral and earthy tones are timeless for a reason. They photograph beautifully. Bold and bright colours steal attention and might affect skin tones. White, beige, and brown always work. Coordinate family outfits using the same colour palette, but avoid going matchy-matchy!

Texture and Pattern

Natural fabrics like linen or cosy knits add depth. Small floral patterns can break monotony, but keep it to one person to avoid visual chaos. Avoid large patterns or pinstripes.

Comfort Matters

Wear something that you can move freely in it! Also, check out the weather! Layer up with a comfy knit or bring a casual shawl. Kids especially need warmth and comfort for a happy shoot! The weather can be a bit cool after the sun sets.

Hair and Makeup

Opt for hairstyles that suit you and the vibe. Soft waves or a simple straightened style are versatile. A spritz of

hairspray is handy for beach shoots. It Keeps things in check with all that humidity and wind.

Go for a look that highlights your features, without feeling too heavy. In photos, matte makeup usually looks better than anything overly shimmery. And, of course, don't forget about those nails! They make a difference, especially in close-ups during newborn and maternity sessions. A clean, polished look adds a nice touch to your overall style.

Accessories

Subtle accessories like a delicate gold necklace or a bracelet, or a pair of simple earrings can amp up your style without stealing the show.

What Not to Do

Steer clear of flashy trends and bulky watches (smart watches). Opt for a classic look to enhance your style effortlessly. Avoid logos and trends, and for a cleaner look, it's a good idea to empty those pockets!
